This might be the last of the summer blooms around! I spotted this gorgeous, pale Hibiscus while out today. Not much to pick at this time of year, so I took a picture of it as it will be dead tomorrow - the Hibiscus flower only lasts one day cut. I almost feel mean taking it! Spot the damaged petal - flower neglect in the car. I was too long at the book fair. It's a delicate specimen now gracing the faux mantlepiece in an exotic and beautiful kind of way, if only for a short time.

I absolutely love crooked vases, and found this one in a charity shop. It's quality glass and weighty so it does work, but I always like to face the bloom in the other direction to be sure! It was an utter bargain costing less than a packet of chewing gum. The little, roughly sawn, wooden cross was also similarly sourced.
