UNFASHIONABLY LATE

UNFASHIONABLY LATE

We were not only moved last night from the cosy bar at Fenice, but by the soulful spirit of New Zealand singer/songwriter Maisey Rika. Due to circumstances beyond our control we unfortunately only caught the tail end of this completely sublime, free performance at Piritahi Marae, Oneroa, for Matariki (Maori New Year.) Shoelessly and respectfully we slid our way across the floor between applause, edging our way to face the beautiful songbird, and were mesmerised by the collective energy from Maisey and accompanists. Thank God Maori people are chilled folk. I was then put to shame hearing my Croatian friend next to me singing along to this song in Maori - very well too! I have to learn it. Go to Heaven and discover all of Maisey Rika on You Tube. We are fans.
